The rants and ravings of Dianne Andrews, a grumpy old woman, and my thoughts and feelings on things that annoy, anger, amuse or bemuse me.

A picture paints a thousand words
Nothing much that I see or read in the news shocks or surprises me much anymore. However, I was reduced to tears today as I saw a photo of a 6 year old boy with his arm around his 4 year old sister, comforting her, because seven members of his family had been killed in front of them. They say a picture paints a thousand words, and it also paints a thousand feelings. Among the dead were their parents, baby brother, older brother and grandmother. No child should have to endure this sort of brutality and loss and the perpetrators would have to be inhuman and sadistic. It reminded me of the last time something similar brought me to tears and that was the Zahra Baker case. What that poor child had to endure at the hands of her stepmother, before her eventual murder, was pure spite and cruelty. These children are innocents and do not deserve to have this pain and suffering inflicted on them, just to satisfy an adults misguided righteousness.
