Unwanted and unsolicited phone calls

It is definitely true.  You get grumpier as you get older!!!  I used to be so laid back and mellow but now lots of things annoy me and the thing I hate most at the moment is the unwanted/unsolicited phone call.  We are on the ''do not call" register but that does not stop some companies from flaunting the rules.
One afternoon recently I had SEVEN, yep 7, calls from unknown sources.  One of the calls was from a lady claiming to be from Windows,  informing me that my computer was infected .  She did'nt get very far because I told her that my computer was fine and that her timing was bad because just the day before I spent some time on the phone with a Microsoft tech. and during the wait listened over and over again how Microsoft DO NOT cold call anyone and any calls of this nature are scams.  I don't blame the woman who called, she is just trying to earn a living, but someone must be making a lot of money if only a small fraction of people are conned.
Two of the calls (from a company I had never heard of) told me that the cost of our landline would be reducing dramatically soon.  I told them that pigs might fly, thanked them and hung up.  So far no-one from this company has called back.
But the ones that are really strarting to p*** me off are from a telco company (although this was denied on one occasion) who have been calling regularly now for some weeks.  They ask to speak to S****.  When I tell them that there is no S**** living here, they then try to extract info about me and my family and our phone bill.  I have tried being polite, I have simply hung up and I have tried reasoning, all to no avail.  The last time I asked to speak to the manager or supervisor and was told that was not possible.  I asked why is this not possible, you wanting to speak to S**** is not possible!!!! That person hung up.
But perhaps the call tht peeves me the most is the fully automated one.  The phone rings and when you answer an automated voice says "this is an important call for Mr R*** G*** A***, is this is mr etc press one.  Well i've never got to the end of one of these calls, but I'm fairly certain it is a financial institution, but I figure that is the haven't got the sommon curtest to speak to me personally, then I do not want to talk to a robot.
