Rafael Nadal - the real champion

Has there ever been a more gracious and unassuming runner-up in the mens Australian Open tennis than Rafa?  He may not have won the title, but he certainly won the championship.  Well done Rafa.

What a great idea - but it will never happen

Another clever idea, obviously started by someone like me - getting OLD and GRUMPY!!!

Dear Ms Gillard,
Here is an idea! Lets put pensioners in jail and prisoners in nursing homes.
This way the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.
They would receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc. and they would receive money instead of pay it out
They would have constant video monitoring so they could be helped instantly if they fell, or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week and all clothing washed, ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring them meals and snacks.
They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, cable tv, a pool and education.
Simple clothes, shoes, slippers, pj’s and legal aid would be free, on request.
Private, secure rooms for all, with an outside exercise yard, with gardens.
Each senior would have their own PC, TV, radio and daily phone calls.
There would be a board of directors to hear complaints and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The criminals would get cold food, be left alone and unsupervised.
Lights off at 8pm and showers once a week.
They would pay $600 per week to live in a tiny room.
There would be no hope of getting out.

Think about this....if you don’t want to forward this for fear of offending someone then...YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!!!
It is time for us grumpy old Australians to speak up.

This person should be our PM

I received the following in an email, so cannot claim any credit for its content, but thought it was so clever and funny. This is the type of person we need running our country!!!!

Dear Ms Gillard,
Please find below some suggestions for fixing the Australian economy.
Instead of giving billions of dollars to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan......
You can call it the PATRIOTIC RETIREMENT PLAN
There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million each severance for early retirement, with the following stipulations:
1 They MUST retire
Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed
2 They MUST buy a new Australian made car
Ten million cars ordered - car industry problem fixed
3 They MUST either buy a house, or pay off their mortgages
Housing crisis fixed
4 They MUST send their kids/grandkids to school/university
Crime rate fixed
5 They MUST buy $100 worth of alcohol/tobacco each week
There is your money back in duty, taxes etc
Instead of stuffing around with the carbon emissions trading scheme that makes us pay for the major polluters, tell the greedy bastards to reduce their carbon emissions by 75% within 5 years or shut them down!
It can’t get any easier than that. If more money is needed just have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances.

More innocent victims of criminal arseholes

Two more innocent victims just because some arsehole thinks he is above the law and tries to outrun the police. What a shame that he died also, so that he is not here to face the consequences of his actions. When will they bring in laws along the lines of - if you have stolen a car, if you have been drinking, if you are under the influence of drugs, if you are speeding, and cause death or injury to another person, then you should be charged with murder, or attempted murder. I know this will never happen because there are always bleeding hearts who are on the side of criminals no matter what the crime, in fact soon police will not be able to apprehend anyone who is speeding, drunk driving, or driving a stolen car, and all law abiding citizens will be at risk when they are out driving. Maybe, if parents were to tell their children from a very young age that it is NOT acceptable to do certain things, then maybe, just maybe, there might be fewer stolen cars, drunk and drugged drivers and speedsters on the road.
