Shame on you Eugene McGee

I just read that police have arrested a hit run driver who ran down a police man. Now it will be interesting to see what punishment this man will receive!! If he is a lawyer then he will be OK and get off, but I suspect that he is not, and should pay for what he has done. All hit and run drivers deserve to be punished. They are inhuman, immoral and Mr Eugene McGee is the lowest of the low because he not only ran down a man and left him to die, he has absolutely no remorse, because he is above the law. Why can't justice be done for all people?

What's wrong with singing our National Anthem?????

I have been following the media story about a Victorian Pollie wanting schools to sing our national anthem each week.  Now apparently, this is racist.  What a load of CRAP.  Every where around the world people are singing their anthems with pride, even in South Africa after all their problems, and it is not deemed racist.  So, why do we in Australia have to give in to minority whingers all the time?  One social media comment I read was from a lady who was sick of Australia, the people and the customs and traditions, and did not want Australian history taught in schools.  Her comment was "I don't need it and I don't want it for my children" and that everything was so much nicer in her beloved India!! It begs the question "Why are you here?"  Why do people immigrate to a country where things are so different from what they are used to, then expect their adopted country to change for them??

How to get off a shoplifting charge!

I am so angry.  Just goes to prove that there is one law for them and one law for us.  How can a person get off a shoplifting charge just because they are depressed.  Lots of people, including me, suffer depression, but they do not shoplift.  Then, once you have shoplifted your haul, you are allowed to assault the person who has the temerity to try to intercept you in the act of committing a crime, because you had a panic attack.  I also experience panic attacks, but I have never slammed someones arm in my car door.  Why is this woman above the law just because she was depressed?  If someone is this prone to panic attacks, I wouldn't want them as my parliamentary  representative.

Why won't Ponting retire?

Why don't sports persons know when its time to retire? By sports person I mainly mean Ricky Ponting. Is he too arrogant to see what others can see? The longer he goes on like this the more he will look like another old saddo "has been". If he had left when he could still hold his head high, he would be remembered, like Steve Waugh, as one of the greats. If he won't retire graciously, he should be dropped immediately and that would serve him right for thinking that he is better than he is. It's too late now to save face, because you will only be remembered as someone overpaid and under performing.

ebay email scam is back

This scam is a worry, because if you do not take the time to look at it properly, it does look genuine. A couple of give aways are that the bits that are not copied and pasted directly from eBay are badly written, IE the English is poor and they do not use your user name like eBay do. I was immediately suspicious because I knew that I didn't owe any money, but I reckon that quite a few people will be conned with this one.
One scam that I don't think will fool many people is the one I received from a Thai diplomat who was waiting for me at JFK airport with my packages, valued at $750,000. Although all the paperwork for these packages looked to be in order, and customs were satisfied that no drugs or counterfeit goods were involved, apparently I had not paid the "tag" fee, so would I send $55 immediately etc. etc. It certainly won't catch many people outside of the US and unless someone was expecting packages worth three quarters of a million dollars, it won't fool many Americans either.

Absolutely WOEFUL Aussie cricket team

What a disgraceful batting fiasco.  Not only should you be ashamed of such a pathetic attempt, you should be made to return any monies paid, or be charged with fraud, for impersonating an international cricketer.  OK so Michael Clarke made over 150 runs in 1st innings and SA did it easy in their 2nd innings, so don't go blaming the pitch.  Most of the fault lies with the selectors and coaching staff.  Why do we have an opening batsman that can't make runs?  Why do we have a wicketkeeper that can't  make runs?  Why do we have a no 3 that can't move his feet and gets out lbw so much?  This disgrace would not have happened under Steve Waugh, and just imagine the rollicking this lot would get if Alan Border was their captain.!!!!!  So C'MON, all those in charge, tell them to shape up or ship out.  There is a lot of talent out there, so if this lot can't get the job done, get someone who can.  Hells bells, I'm a 62 yo female, but I reckon even I could have made more runs in the 2nd innings than most of these so called professional cricketers.  This test was an embarrassment not only for the Australian Cricket team, but for all their loyal followers.  We deserve better than this.

e-mail scammers are at it again!!!!

I really do admire their ingenuity, they are obviously very clever people, but why don't they put their skills towards doing something useful and worthwhile?  Oh, stupid me - you can earn much more money by scamming people than by doing a normal days work.  I received one the other day supposedly from e-bay asking that I pay my overdue account immediately, and to make sure that they were contacting the correct person, would I send all my account details, including password, to them.  Well I contacted e-bay because I knew that I did not owe any money, sent them a copy of the e-mail and they have passed the matter on to their "spoof" trackers.  I just wonder how many thousands of people have been caught with this one?  Apart from the many I get telling me that my "check" has been returned (I've never looked at one of these, so don't know what is involved), I received one today informing me that my federal income tax payment did not go through because I used an invalid account number.  Oh boy, I wonder how many unsuspecting Americans they will catch with this one!!!!!!!

Staged celebrity sham marriages should be illegal!

So Kim K claims that when she married she thought it would be forever.  Oh, pleeeeeease!  Although even I am surprised she is calling it quits so soon.  Has her public appeal waned since she got married and this was the best she could come up with?  It is not only obscene spending that much money on a wedding (think of the good it could have done in Africa), but all the guests had to fork out for a present.  Will they be returning these?  So, when will publicity staged marriages be made illegal?  Probably not in the near future in America.

Welcome Scott Watters, er, I think!

Got quite excited when the Saints appointed Scott Watters as the new coach.  Young, dynamic, fresh.  Then I heard his press conference.  He said that he admired the Saints defensive game and would like to expand on this.  Oh no, my worst nightmare.  We need to work on our offensive game, get back to kicking goals and to stop the overuse of backward passing.  I guess we will all have to wait and see, but please, please don't overdo the defence.  Kicking goals is what our game is all about.

Simple Solution for Illegal Immigrants

Well I think it is a simple solution.  Every person who arrives here illegally, without papers, is immediately exchanged for a person waiting in a refugee camp/centre.  These people, mainly, have their correct documents, have gone through the correct and legal channels, and are now waiting patiently (usually years) for their names to be called.  Just because they have chosen to do things lawfully, or they do not have the money to pay smugglers, they have been left to languish, and forgotten by the do-gooders in Australia, while others demand to be accepted.  Every child who is sent here unaccompanied must be returned immediately to Indonesia and placed in the hands of child welfare, and their parents should be charged with child abuse and deception.  Of course there will be people accusing me of being racist, etc, etc, but I'm beyond caring because our country is slowing and systematically being F****D and I don't understand what being Australian is anymore!

Another pathetic performance

Well Saints, you've done it again.  You are the masters of underachieving.  The Saints followers mantra is "there is always next year", but hey, c'mon you guys, some people don't have many "next years" left!!!
There is so much backward passing that I'm sure more than half the team think they are playing rugby.  I always thought the aim of the game was to kick more goals than the opposition, but that is extremely hard to do from the back lines, where most of the Saints football is played.  So to say that I am underwhelmed by your under par performance would be an understatement.

Feral Collingwood fans

I nearly fell off my chair when I read in the paper today that the Collingwood ferals were calling Nic Nat a tip rat.  UNBELIEVABLE!!!  May I suggest that Eddie gets down from his ivory tower, with his boys, and go and sit among the peasants, so that he knows what normal footy fans have to put up with.

We won't be able to afford NBN

I am not at all concerned that the National Broadband Network has almost ground to a standstill in South Australia, because from the scant information I have been able to access, the cheapest option will cost more than twice what we are paying now.  At present we are on a bundled plan which includes landline, mobile phone and wireless broadband.  Sure, we don't run a business or need super fast internet, but for $20 a month we can get unlimited access, which is fast enough for us, even in a communications black spot.  The cheapest price I have seen for NBN is $49.95 per month!!! Unaffordable and unwarranted for us.

This is why there is no God

I read in the paper that a family in Melbourne are suing because three years ago they witnessed a fatal plane crash during an airshow.  This made me mad, firstly because no-one forced them to watch this show and secondly, instead of saying "poor bugger me", I'm going to make some money out of this, they should be expressing some sympathy for the family and friends of the deceased.  I would like them to meet a family in my district who have just lost their second daughter to cancer.  Both died through no fault of their own or their families.  Both young women in their prime, both mothers of young children.  You always expect to outlive your children, so to lose two must be grief beyond comprehension.  So don't tell me there is a God and there is a reason for this, because logic tells me differently.  You only have to look at the number of arseholes that are taking up space on this earth to know that there is no good and benevolent deity of any creed or religion.

Where is the parental control.

I read a story in the paper today about a man tracking down his stolen 4wd.  Fortunately, he had left his ipad and laptop in the vehicle and because he had installed a type of tracking devise on his ipad the police were able to retrieve his vehicle.  Now comes the weird part!  The car was tracked to a suburban home and a 14 year old boy was arrested along with 2 girls aged 15 and 16.  Now, call me cynical, but I would be a wee bit suspicious if my young teenager came home with an expensive 4wd, especially when they were not old enough to have a licence.  Has no-one ever told these kids that you can't just take something whenever you feel like it.

My favourite SCAM so far!!!

There are some new scams doing the rounds (well, they are new to us).  Rod got one from a very rich man who was dying of cancer. Apparently he had not been a very nice person, so to make amends, he was giving his very large fortune away to deserving people.  All Rod had to do was send his banking info, and well, the rest you know!  It would be funny if it wasn't so sad, cause you just know that someone will fall for it.
But, I received one today that is my favourite so far. It seems that I was caught speeding in New York City and would have to go to court.  If I wanted to defend the charge, I had to download the attached file and send it to some PO box in Chatam(?) NY.  I can't tell you what was on the attachment, because, naturally I did not open it, but I suspect that a fee would be involved for lodging this defence. But how ridiculously stupid to send a fake New York speeding ticket to someone in Australia - my email address does include the letters au.  Although I begrudgingly admire their creativity, in reality they are despicable leeches with no morals who hide behind their anonymity.

Pathetic Saints!

Oh dear, another pathetic performance from St Kilda.  When are these so called "talented players" going to start showing us that they can actually play A grade football.  At present only a handful of players are trying to do the work of eighteen.  Thank goodness for Ben McEvoy, Jack Steven and Nick Dal Santo!!!!! Personally, the one thing that pisses me off the most, is the captain's lack of team play.  If you are injured, GET OFF.  If you are not injured, then get a grip, put the ego away and stop the dramatics. In fact, I would prefer it if the other players did not even kick to you.  There are others who are willing to go in hard and are better kicks for goal.  Fortunately the Swans kicking was off today, otherwise it would have been a flogging.  The way things are going, this team could not even beat the Power.

Collingwood ferals - why are we suprised?

Why are footy fans surprised at the Collingwood supporters actions and abuse towards Stephen Milne.  After all, the main instigator was their coach Mick Malthouse.  Not much of a role model is he? (and he is a grandfather too - shame on you)  I wonder what they call Beams and McCarthy who were also implicated in a rape case?  Because there are so many Collingwood players and supporters with shady pasts and dubious friends, maybe they think Milney is one of them!  Perhaps, Stephen, you should even be flattered, because you obviously get under their skin more than any other player.  Remember, Stephen, you have lots of fans, so keep doing what you do best and hopefully the ferals will self destruct.

Leave your ego at home Nick

I am a saints fan, but I'm not a Riewoldt fan.  During the last 40 plus years, I have seen many characters, both good and bad pass through the club.  Some were extremely talented, but most were just hard working young men playing a game they loved.  However, I can't remember any of these players having an ego as big as Riewoldts. His body language and on field remonstrating is more like the actions of a spoiled brat than the captain of a football TEAM.  If you want your team to lift and saints supporters to respect you, then you have to clean up your act and leave your ego at home.

Will the SA Liberal Party please come out of hiding.

Do the Labour party really think that by changing their leader that all will be well again?  I think they have left it about 2 years too late.  I thought that Labour was a party for the people, but in the 10 years that we have been in SA, I have not seen much evidence of this.  In fact I was shocked that they were returned in the last election.  But in hindsight it is not so surprising because there is no opposition.  Come on Isobel, if you can't be a strong and creditable leader then get someone who will stand up and make some noise.  Please Liberals give us a sign that you are still alive and well and maybe even care about the future of this state.

Is this the worst ad ever?

There is an ad on tv that I think is the worst one I've ever seen.  Simon Baker is telling me in a crappy, fake American accent that ANZ knows what I'm thinking about banks.  Well I've get some bad news for you ANZ.  You DON'T know what I'm thinking about you or banks in general and if you could read my mind, you certainly wouldn't be telling all and sundry about what I think of banks.  In fact you have just re-enforced my low opinion of your company by serving up this pathetic advert.

Love & Clutter in Hobart

I am in awe of some peoples imagination and creativity.  There is a shop in Hobart called Love & Clutter and they stock some of the most amazing handmade and handcrafted goods, ranging from clothes to jewellery to home wares and everything in between.  So next time you are in Tassie and want a unique gift this is the place to go.  Because everything is handmade you know it will be a one-off!

c'mon Telstra, lift your game

I know we live in a communications black spot, but we were assured by Telstra that we would have no problems with their 3G networking.  Well half of the time we don't, but the other times are soooooo frustrating.  No connections for days at a time, dropping out during sessions etc.  We have rung all the phone numbers we could find to get some answers, even ones that the technicians have suggested that do not appear in the phone book, only to be told that there is no problem with Telstra, it must be our equipment.  So why do others in the area have the same problems??????  Getting very pissed off at having to pay for a service that is not reliable.

If you can't love your kids, give them to someone who will

There have always been bad parents and probably always will, but I can't understand how anyone can be deliberately cruel or indifferent to their kids.  Any father who throws his little girl off a bridge does not deserve to share the air we breath.  Even worse was the fact he did it in front of his son!!!!  Then there was poor Zara Baker who lost a leg from cancer and was partially deaf.  So what did that dear little girl do to get stuck with the stepmother from hell??  The thing that makes me really angry is that her father did not even notice she was missing for 3 weeks.  A dead beat father gives his toddler a loaded gun and then photographs her with it.  So I was completely shocked to read that some kids starting school in Britain do not know their name.  The reason for this is that their parents do not talk to, or interact with them.  HOW CAN THIS BE?????     I cannot comprehend this but apparently it is not that uncommon.  There are countless couples out there desperate for children, so please it you can't love your kids, then give them to someone who can and will.

It's not natural

I hope that these horrible baby beauty pageants do not catch on here.  What are they trying to prove????There is nothing pretty or cute about making toddlers wear false teeth, false eyelashes, fake tan and big hair, in fact its grotesque!  It's all about the mothers craving attention.  I am not surprised that it is big business in America, because every second person has had a face lift of a boob job. So where you have artificial adults, why not artificial kids?  I'm sure that we Aussies are much less conceited and are happy to let kids be kids and enjoy themselves while they can.

Get those idiots off the road!!!

When will the organisers do something about the idiots that run onto the road and cause chaos during the Tour de France?  Will a rider have to be killed before barriers are put in place?  At the very least there should be more security and police.  I am not a Contador fan, but I applaud him for hitting out at the wanker in green who harassed him.  In fact, I'm all for allowing the cyclists carte blanch when it comes to dealing with these pests.  Maybe the cyclists could go on strike or move their tour to another country (Britain would be nice).  Seriously though, this is a growing problem and something must be done.

Julia Bob saves the world

Thank you Julia & Bob for saving the world with your new carbon tax!!!  America, China and Europe will be so grateful.  I didn't even know that Australia was to blame for global warming.

Will the Saints go backwards (on & off the field)?

I know that they like playing backwards, but now that the Lovett case has gone to trial, will it mean the Saints game goes downhill again?  One step forward, two steps back?  If this happens then there needs to be a major shakeup.  There seems to be some good talent among the younger ones and I'm looking forward to seeing them get a go.
I wonder if we will hear from Kimmie soon.  She must be getting media withdrawal symptoms by now?

Why can't I believe her?

We are a single, low income family.  We use rainwater, wash in cold water using biodegradable powder and our grey water goes onto the garden.  Almost everything that comes into our household is recycled, either into the compost, fed to the chooks, used as mulch (shredded paper), reused in craft projects or donated to charity.  We eat very little meat & grow almost all our own fruit & veg.  Our household rubbish bin is rarely put out for collection and our recycle bin only contains excess newspapers or items we cannot re-use.  We do this because it seems the right thing to do, but I sometimes wonder why we bother!  After all this our carbon footprint should be minuscule.  I have listened to the statements made by the PM regarding the costs and reimbursements of the carbon tax, so why am I so sceptical when she says we will be better off?  The price of electricity will skyrocket over and above what has been stated, as will fuel and most other commodities, and there is nothing we can do about it.  There is no way that any Government can compensate us for the rises in costs that we are about to face.

Apparantly I'm a Racist!

I'm an Austalian, I was born here, as were my parents, grandparents and great grandparents.  My extended family consists of 10 different nationalities/ethnic groups (including the daughter of a Cambodian refugee), and we all get along fine.  BUT, it seems that I am a racist because I agree with the majority of Australians who cannot undertand why someone would choose to come and live here, and then complain about every aspect of the Australian way of life.  If you don't like the laws, the way people dress, the religions etc, then choose a country that is more compatable with your views and way of thinking.  Well, I've said it now, so will definitely be labelled a racist!!!!

It doesn't make $ense

I am no economist or financial whiz, but I cannot see the logic in closing the Keith hospital to save $300,000 a year.  I don't know how many people are employed there, but nurses and doctors are a specialised area, so close down the hospital and at least 50% (maybe more) of those employed will have to leave town.  The rest will either go on the dole, revert to one income households, or the lucky ones will find other employment.  So, if less people are employed there is less disposable income, therefore most businesses will suffer and some might even close.  Some people will not be able to keep up their mortgages, so will have to leave town.  Then what happens to the empty houses, empty closed shops and even the empty hospital?  They will be left to deteriorate because the town is dying and nobody wants them.  Like I said, I am not an economist, but how is putting more people on the dole, closing down businesses that have been paying taxes etc, and letting a town die, cost cutting?
What is even more confusing is that this hospital is situated in a town where the two of the most notorious roads in SA meet.  Is this another example of Labour "moving forward"?

Just give me a straight answer

I have been checking out more work from home sites, but I still can't get a straight answer to "what is involved, what do I have to do"????  I have even spoken to a nice young man over the phone who assured me there was no selling involved, no cold calling, don't need to be a techno computer whiz etc etc, but still wouldn't tell me WHAT WOULD I HAVE TO DO.  He just kept repeating "watch the video on our web site, pay your money and get our training cd's".
So, I can only conclude that the only way to make money from home is to have your own web site that sells How to Make Money at Home cd's!!!!
If there is any person out there who started working from home through one of these websites, I would like to know how is it going and  WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO?

OMG she's back

Should have known it was too good to be true.  Poor little Kimmie could not stay out of the limelight.  This "girl" has some serious problems, which her parents must take considerable responsibility for.  If you had acted like parents, taught your daughter acceptable behaviour, and maybe even said no to her from time to time, you may have raised a daughter to be proud of.  For example, which parent  accompanied the then 16 year old to Sydney?  Which parent or responsible adult accompanied her when she stayed in a city hotel?  By her actions, your daughter has shown no respect or consideration to you, which makes me think that you have never asked for any.  Why?  You are her parents!  She should love and respect you and care about your feelings.  Like this blog, all her texts, twitters, media comments etc will be "out there" for all time.  She claims to have no regrets.  Maybe now, but what about the future?

It's just KNOT on

Knitting yarn is getting very expensive, so when you find knots a few metres into a ball it is very frustrating.  I am knitting with a mohair blend and could not believe it when I came to a knot after only two rows.  From now on I am going to contact these people and complain, cause it's just not good enough.  Maybe even start a name and shame.  Or they should be made to state on the labels that there are knots in this ball and drop the price accordingly.  I know that there are more pressing matters in the world to deal with, but it still makes me mad and it is all the little things that add up to make me even grumpier, grrrrrrr

Tuesday, 17 May 2011

There is no justice

I am realising that as you get older you not only get grumpier, you get more cynical and disillusioned.  EG why, when there are so many evil people in this world, does an ordinary young man who should have had his whole life in front of him, have to suffer for months from a cruel and incurable disease before he dies?  So sorry Krissie, love you heaps.  One day you will be able to look back at the good times and all the bad, sad times will fade away.
Why is it that a person can drink drive, knock a man off his bike, killing him, and then leave the scene?  Isn't this hit and run?  Isn't this a crime?  Shouldn't the person responsible be made accountable for this?  An Italian tourist who caused a fatality because he drove on the wrong side of the road (I imagine it would be confusing when all your life you have been used to left hand drive) is now in court.  It seems he is facing up to his responsibilities, so why can't these so called men of law?????  To Di Gilchrist-Humphreys, you put up a good fight, so maybe at least one of the people involved has a conscience and has trouble sleeping at night.

Dear Ross Lyon

Dear Ross Lyon,
After the initial disappointment (no, make that downright anger), I thought some more about the game on Saturday night against the Crows, and finally I get it!!!!
You are playing for the wooden spoon so that you can get all the best draft picks.  'Cause lets face it, half of these players have to go, or at least go back to the VFL until they are physically and mentally fit to play with the big boys.  Some are past their used by date, so why aren't you giving the young ones a go?  Some others have not been pulling their weight or playing the team game.
I don't know what you see when you watch a saints game, but as a spectator, all I see is a weird sort of slow motion combination of rugby league and b-grade footy (apologies to b-grade footy teams).
I don't know how you can say "don't write them off yet", because it was obvious from the first round game that they were playing badly.
Saints supporters are used to saying "Oh well, there's always next year", so once again, there's always next year.

Villawood riots

I regularly watch the TV show Border Watch.  Anyone entering Australia has to have the correct visas and if there is the even the slightest problem the person is usually sent back to where they came from on the next available flight.  Therefore, any persons responsible for the destruction of government property should have any applications for visas denied and promptly sent back to where they came from.  If they refuse to name their country, then they should be sent back to Indonesia.  I read a very good comment on the 3aw website that likened these people to thugs "who kick your door in, sit on the couch all day watching TV while you work, then complain about the food in the fridge".  Meanwhile there are thousands of legitimate refugees sitting in camps around the world who have done the right thing, gone through the proper channels and after years of despair are still waiting.  Why aren't we helping these people instead of the illegals????

Monday, 18 April 2011

Why can't anyone leave comments?

This is getting very frustrating and I'm getting grumpier!!!  I have followed all the instructions, been to the help site, gone into blogger forums, but "leaving comments" still not working.  Don't know what else to do.  Can anyone help?

Letter to Ross Lyon

Dear Ross, last week a football commentator was asked "can St Kilda make the finals without Lenny Hayes"?  Of course the answer was no.   BUT (and many apologies to Lenny) he should have added they would not have made the finals with him in the team.  Lets face it, you've all had your chances and blown it - 3 times.  I watched that docu about the club a few weeks back, and although you made the point that it is only a football game, which is true, your long suffering fans would like something to celebrate at the end of the year.  Otherwise, instead of promising so much, only to be let down again  I think I would prefer to go back to the good old days, remember, when we knew we would beat Fitzroy and got excited when we came within 8 points of beating Hawthorn.  At least we knew what to expect back then.  Not now, everyone is all over the place.  How does a normally excellent kicker get it sooooo wrong (Gram)?  How does someone with so much talent perform so inconsistently (Goddard)?  How is it that someone so slow keep his place in the team (Clarke)?  My biggest gripe Ross is that I think you have forgotten that this game is called football.  It is not rugby, so passing backwards is NOT compulsary.  Isn't it logical that to kick goals you must go forward????  OK so you've proved that the team can play defensively, and sometimes they have even played offensively and kicked lots of goals, but wouldn't it be great to play both on the same day, in the same match!  Now that would be good to see.

More email scams

They are coming in thick and fast now.  Got 5 today titled Personal Notification, which I did'nt open but I'm assuming they have something to do with non existent parcel tracking, then 1 titled Express Delivery - another parcel tracker - and lastly 1 entitled MMS (whatever that means) Confirmation needed. Confirmation of what I don't know because I have no intention of opening it.  We are just small fish and yet we still receive lots of scams, so imagine the junk that some of these larger companies that received thousands of emails every day, have to sort through.  Obviously people are still being conned because they still keep coming!!!

Work from home - the unanswered questions

I've looked at dozens of work from home sites, (though not the ones that claim you can make millions) but they are all so vague in what is actually involved.  Of course you have to pay so I can see how the people running these sites make their money, but whenever I ask for specifics I'm told to check out the info pack which is valued at over $300 but for this week only has been reduced to $39.95!  Why can't I get a simple answer to a simple question?  WHAT IS INVOLVED???  If it means having a blog which runs ads, well I've already done that and it is free through Google.  Does anyone out there know the answer, do you work from home, or know someone who does, and what do they do?

We have received a new (to us) email scam.  You have to admire the talent and ingenuity of these people but why can't they use their skills to earn money legitimately.  The latest supposedly comes from the American Postal Service informing that a parcel has been sent and the tracking number is enclosed so that you can see where your parcel is and when it will arrive.  Well Rod received the first one and although he knew it was a scam curiosity got the better of him (he does have a sister in the US and his 60th is coming up!!!!!)  Of course the parcel could not be tracked because the computer was full of fatal virus's etc. which would have to be attended to immediately.  It was much easier for me to pick the scam because I received four in one day all with different no's.  Slight overkill there, even for the most gullible among us.

St Kilda "schoolgirl"

Oh dear, we must have gone a whole day without Kimmie getting her media fix.  To shift the attention back on to her she has pretended to apologise to the players in nude photos - yeah sure, you really sound gutted by your actions.  Anyway, for now Kim its back to me me me!!!  just as you like it.

Nigerian email scams

Seems this one never goes away.  We have a good laugh about them but the fact that they are still doing the rounds must mean people are still falling for this con.  Unbelievable!!!  We found the first one amusing (you know the one - send us your bank details and we will deposit millions into your account) but when the second one arrived informing us that they had to call in the FBI we were intrigued.  It seems that some unscrupulous people, even from the Nigerian govt. and police force were trying to stop us getting this money hahaha. I can understand some people being duped by some of the cons around because some are good, but I can't feel sorry for anyone that falls for this one - they are just plain greedy.

email scams

do NOT join up to any of the sites that claim to pay for reading emails.  They start off by offering you $25 to join - at first you are paid 20 - 50 cents for every email read, then it drops to 10c then to 5c and then, would you believe it, when my account reached $39 payment dropped to 1c per email! You can not cash out until you have reached $50, so obviously, they do not want you to reach this target.  A good way for them to earn money while they are ripping off suckers like me.

the frustrations of being a St Kilda supporter

I know it's only the NAB cup and that players were missing, BUT being thrashed by Essendon is not acceptable.  C'mon you guys, you are supposed to be playing Aussie Rules, that means kicking forward, so what's with all the backward passes?  Pathetic attempt!!!!!!!

another scamming phone call?

I have just received another call (claiming to be a computer company in Sydney) telling me that my computer is downloading infected files and that this company has been asked by Windows to fix this problem.  I told the caller that I would check with Microsoft to confirm this and he hung up rather quickly.  Is it because our surname starts with A or do they make thousands of calls daily?

What summer?

What is happening with the weather? It has gone crazy worldwide and surely can't all be blamed on global warming.  Where I live we hardly had a summer but fortunately no floods, fires or earthquakes.

Unwanted and unsolicited phone calls

It is definitely true.  You get grumpier as you get older!!!  I used to be so laid back and mellow but now lots of things annoy me and the thing I hate most at the moment is the unwanted/unsolicited phone call.  We are on the ''do not call" register but that does not stop some companies from flaunting the rules.
One afternoon recently I had SEVEN, yep 7, calls from unknown sources.  One of the calls was from a lady claiming to be from Windows,  informing me that my computer was infected .  She did'nt get very far because I told her that my computer was fine and that her timing was bad because just the day before I spent some time on the phone with a Microsoft tech. and during the wait listened over and over again how Microsoft DO NOT cold call anyone and any calls of this nature are scams.  I don't blame the woman who called, she is just trying to earn a living, but someone must be making a lot of money if only a small fraction of people are conned.
Two of the calls (from a company I had never heard of) told me that the cost of our landline would be reducing dramatically soon.  I told them that pigs might fly, thanked them and hung up.  So far no-one from this company has called back.
But the ones that are really strarting to p*** me off are from a telco company (although this was denied on one occasion) who have been calling regularly now for some weeks.  They ask to speak to S****.  When I tell them that there is no S**** living here, they then try to extract info about me and my family and our phone bill.  I have tried being polite, I have simply hung up and I have tried reasoning, all to no avail.  The last time I asked to speak to the manager or supervisor and was told that was not possible.  I asked why is this not possible, you wanting to speak to S**** is not possible!!!! That person hung up.
But perhaps the call tht peeves me the most is the fully automated one.  The phone rings and when you answer an automated voice says "this is an important call for Mr R*** G*** A***, is this is mr etc press one.  Well i've never got to the end of one of these calls, but I'm fairly certain it is a financial institution, but I figure that is the haven't got the sommon curtest to speak to me personally, then I do not want to talk to a robot.
