The rants and ravings of Dianne Andrews, a grumpy old woman, and my thoughts and feelings on things that annoy, anger, amuse or bemuse me.

Where is the parental control.
I read a story in the paper today about a man tracking down his stolen 4wd. Fortunately, he had left his ipad and laptop in the vehicle and because he had installed a type of tracking devise on his ipad the police were able to retrieve his vehicle. Now comes the weird part! The car was tracked to a suburban home and a 14 year old boy was arrested along with 2 girls aged 15 and 16. Now, call me cynical, but I would be a wee bit suspicious if my young teenager came home with an expensive 4wd, especially when they were not old enough to have a licence. Has no-one ever told these kids that you can't just take something whenever you feel like it.

My favourite SCAM so far!!!
There are some new scams doing the rounds (well, they are new to us). Rod got one from a very rich man who was dying of cancer. Apparently he had not been a very nice person, so to make amends, he was giving his very large fortune away to deserving people. All Rod had to do was send his banking info, and well, the rest you know! It would be funny if it wasn't so sad, cause you just know that someone will fall for it.
But, I received one today that is my favourite so far. It seems that I was caught speeding in New York City and would have to go to court. If I wanted to defend the charge, I had to download the attached file and send it to some PO box in Chatam(?) NY. I can't tell you what was on the attachment, because, naturally I did not open it, but I suspect that a fee would be involved for lodging this defence. But how ridiculously stupid to send a fake New York speeding ticket to someone in Australia - my email address does include the letters au. Although I begrudgingly admire their creativity, in reality they are despicable leeches with no morals who hide behind their anonymity.

Pathetic Saints!
Oh dear, another pathetic performance from St Kilda. When are these so called "talented players" going to start showing us that they can actually play A grade football. At present only a handful of players are trying to do the work of eighteen. Thank goodness for Ben McEvoy, Jack Steven and Nick Dal Santo!!!!! Personally, the one thing that pisses me off the most, is the captain's lack of team play. If you are injured, GET OFF. If you are not injured, then get a grip, put the ego away and stop the dramatics. In fact, I would prefer it if the other players did not even kick to you. There are others who are willing to go in hard and are better kicks for goal. Fortunately the Swans kicking was off today, otherwise it would have been a flogging. The way things are going, this team could not even beat the Power.

Collingwood ferals - why are we suprised?
Why are footy fans surprised at the Collingwood supporters actions and abuse towards Stephen Milne. After all, the main instigator was their coach Mick Malthouse. Not much of a role model is he? (and he is a grandfather too - shame on you) I wonder what they call Beams and McCarthy who were also implicated in a rape case? Because there are so many Collingwood players and supporters with shady pasts and dubious friends, maybe they think Milney is one of them! Perhaps, Stephen, you should even be flattered, because you obviously get under their skin more than any other player. Remember, Stephen, you have lots of fans, so keep doing what you do best and hopefully the ferals will self destruct.

Leave your ego at home Nick
I am a saints fan, but I'm not a Riewoldt fan. During the last 40 plus years, I have seen many characters, both good and bad pass through the club. Some were extremely talented, but most were just hard working young men playing a game they loved. However, I can't remember any of these players having an ego as big as Riewoldts. His body language and on field remonstrating is more like the actions of a spoiled brat than the captain of a football TEAM. If you want your team to lift and saints supporters to respect you, then you have to clean up your act and leave your ego at home.

Will the SA Liberal Party please come out of hiding.
Do the Labour party really think that by changing their leader that all will be well again? I think they have left it about 2 years too late. I thought that Labour was a party for the people, but in the 10 years that we have been in SA, I have not seen much evidence of this. In fact I was shocked that they were returned in the last election. But in hindsight it is not so surprising because there is no opposition. Come on Isobel, if you can't be a strong and creditable leader then get someone who will stand up and make some noise. Please Liberals give us a sign that you are still alive and well and maybe even care about the future of this state.
Is this the worst ad ever?
There is an ad on tv that I think is the worst one I've ever seen. Simon Baker is telling me in a crappy, fake American accent that ANZ knows what I'm thinking about banks. Well I've get some bad news for you ANZ. You DON'T know what I'm thinking about you or banks in general and if you could read my mind, you certainly wouldn't be telling all and sundry about what I think of banks. In fact you have just re-enforced my low opinion of your company by serving up this pathetic advert.

c'mon Telstra, lift your game
I know we live in a communications black spot, but we were assured by Telstra that we would have no problems with their 3G networking. Well half of the time we don't, but the other times are soooooo frustrating. No connections for days at a time, dropping out during sessions etc. We have rung all the phone numbers we could find to get some answers, even ones that the technicians have suggested that do not appear in the phone book, only to be told that there is no problem with Telstra, it must be our equipment. So why do others in the area have the same problems?????? Getting very pissed off at having to pay for a service that is not reliable.
