The rants and ravings of Dianne Andrews, a grumpy old woman, and my thoughts and feelings on things that annoy, anger, amuse or bemuse me.

Why can't I believe her?
We are a single, low income family. We use rainwater, wash in cold water using biodegradable powder and our grey water goes onto the garden. Almost everything that comes into our household is recycled, either into the compost, fed to the chooks, used as mulch (shredded paper), reused in craft projects or donated to charity. We eat very little meat & grow almost all our own fruit & veg. Our household rubbish bin is rarely put out for collection and our recycle bin only contains excess newspapers or items we cannot re-use. We do this because it seems the right thing to do, but I sometimes wonder why we bother! After all this our carbon footprint should be minuscule. I have listened to the statements made by the PM regarding the costs and reimbursements of the carbon tax, so why am I so sceptical when she says we will be better off? The price of electricity will skyrocket over and above what has been stated, as will fuel and most other commodities, and there is nothing we can do about it. There is no way that any Government can compensate us for the rises in costs that we are about to face.
