I'm so confused. A family from the Philippines, who went through the proper channels to come to Australia, are now facing deportation because one of their sons is autistic. The father is a doctor who has worked for the same clinic since he arrived, so has been contributing his time, taxes and expertise to this country. However, the Immigration Dept. says that they cannot stay because of "public health risks". Yeah, like autism is highly contagious!!!! They also add that there will be "no public spending on health care, where those services are in short supply" This man is a doctor, for Pete's sake, so is aiding, not using this "short supply".
Now, where this family went wrong, was that they did not enter this country illegally. If they had they would be entitled to free medical care, free law services, free housing, free schooling plus welfare payments. Am I the only person who is confused and getting more and more disillusioned with our whole system?
